We are both conscious and passionate about reducing our environmental footprint through all of our products design and lifecycle. We make sure that our products are made from natural materials and quality materials so that they can be a staple household item for generations.

What we are also passionate in is working with small New Zealand businesses - like us, that share similar values or are doing good things. 

Summerhill Timbers is one of these small businesses that tick almost every box. It's family run, they specialise in diversified forest species compared to the mass grown Pinus Radiata trees that we grow here in New Zealand and they are in business for the benefit of the environment rather than financial rewards. Jonty McCool (Leisure Workshops founder) actually grew up with the family who run Summerhill, their son, Hamish, and Jonty literally used to play and ride their bikes in the forests that are now used to make our Capture Light Shade. 

The Forest was also used as a Mountain Bike park for the Tauranga Public to use.

When choosing the perfect veneer for our Capture Light Shade, we knew that we wanted something that has a strong grain, yet would let a consistent light through and of the right colour. We also were looking for something that would output a warm tone - some woods we trialled had green undertones or made the light coming through look inconsistent or tainted and couldn't be used. 

We eventually landed on Summerhill Timbers Tasmanian Blackwood for its warm, consistent tone and its beautifully soft grain presence, which you can see here on our Capture Light Shade.
